| Thursday night was the school Prom. As I said before, I wasn't looking forward to it. A few days earlier I had been invited to go in a limo only to be booted a few hours later because there was no room, meaning that I was apparently expendable which pissed me off. Also, most of the friends I have are in lower grades so there were very few people I could actually talk to in Grade 12 like me. So I went in with no date, few friends, no talent for dancing and was the only black guy there, not that its any different than usual. The night started almost an hour late. It was supposed to start at 6:30 and we didn't get into the place until about 7:15.
First we had dinner which wasn't too bad. Then the dance floor opened up and I just danced randomly by myself for about 10 minutes before going to sit down and talked to a few people. Surprisingly, about an hour after the prom started over half of the people left. Probably due to the fact that EVERYONE hates the principal... That and they put a Justin Bieber song on at one point. I left at about 9:30 and planned to go home, but while I was waiting for my parents to pick me up, my friend came by and said he didn't want to go to the After Prom at some night club so he gave me his ticket. I questioned if I should go or not while I waited to be picked up, but I thought, "This ticket is worth $30 and I got it for free. I've never been to a nightclub before, so why not?" When my parents came I asked them to drive me there and I went.
The after prom was... interesting. At first, it was problematic for me mentally. I had grown a small headache on the way there. That wasn't helped by the fact that the music was mind-numbing and I have slightly sensitive hearing. It was hard to find one spot where I couldn't physically feel the vibrations from the sound. I talked to a few friends and danced alone while I was there. At one point I did dance with some girl for 5 minutes, but I had no idea who she was and I'm guessing that, like everyone else, she was drunk. EVERYONE at the After Prom was drunk to some extent, except for me. I just bought a bottle of water and that lasted me the night. I haven't gone drinking before and I honestly have no desire to, and even less of a desire after seeing how wasted people were. Seriously, people were so drunk they were falling like dominos. At about 12AM (Yep midnight) I was looking for my friend who said she'd get her mom to drive me home since I didn't realize that the buses stopped running. Spent about an hour looking for her before I found her coming back inside, apparently she stepped out for a minute. Then she got her mom to drive me home which was nice and I was very grateful for. It was funny on the way home. My friend was a bit tipsy, so I made a bunch of jokes about her being drunk. Normally, I'd come off as a bit of a jerk making jokes like that, but her and I make friendly jokes about each other all the time so we were fine with it. Got home at about 1:30 AM and was tired as hell. I thought Prom night would be totally terrible. However, while it was a total waste of time, I'm glad I went. I didn't have as bad a time as I thought I would. Plus, I learned something very important: I am not a night club person.
Yesterday was the school festival and yearbooks were handed out, although I had gotten my yearbook a few days in advance. I took photos for it all year so I was very proud of it. People seemed to like it and I got comments and signatures from people when I go there. I skipped the morning after how tiring the prom was and came around noon to help with yearbook distribution, although I came too late to help with most of it. Then I came home and "chillaxed" for the rest of the day.
Today, I'm still a bit tired from prom and I have to go to my cousin's wedding in about an hour from now. Not excited since I've never been particularly fond of the side of the family having the wedding for various reasons and they are twice the size of Chumley, which is a bit awkward. So yeah, it's like Prom... Only worse. Ugh... Why is my life like this? - Mood:tired
